Adele

AdeleAdele Mara (April 28, 1923 to May 7 10th, 2010) was an American actress, singer and dancer who appeared in movies during the 1940s and 1950s and on television during the 1950s, 1960s and later on. Adele St. Mara became her professional name when she was offered a contract from Columbia Pictures[citation neededto be cited. She had experience in comedy shorts and features on Columbia Pictures "B". Soon, this was shortened to Adele Mara. Mara started her career as a receptionist for the Three Stooges movie I Can Hardly Wait. Mara Brooks and Leslie Brooks were the sisters of Rita Hayworth in the Fred Astaire movie You Were Never Lovelier. In Alias Boston Blackie (1942) she is the lead female role, as the sister of an escapee and wrongfully condemned prisoner. After her Columbia contract ended and she was transferred to Republic Pictures where she was an regular on outdoor adventures and westerns. She was a part of in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch with John Wayne, Angel In Exile (leading woman), Sands of Iwo Jima where John Agar is the love interest, California Passage, and Don Siegel's Count the Hours.
